Executive Director of Japanese Para-Swimming Federation
Dear Para Swimming Family from around the world,
On behalf of the Japanese Para Swimming Federation, it is my great pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you all to Shizuoka City for the Para Swimming World Series Fuji-Shizuoka 2026.
Shizuoka City, the capital of Shizuoka Prefecture, has long served as the historical and cultural centre of the region, where urban vitality blends seamlessly with a rich natural environment. From within the city, visitors can enjoy views of Mount Fuji, an enduring symbol of Japan, making this a truly memorable setting for the event. Late May is also the season of freshly harvested green tea, for which Shizuoka is renowned worldwide, offering a refreshing and comfortable atmosphere for both athletes and guests.
The Para Swimming World Series is an international competition series of great importance, contributing to the advancement of competitive standards and the global development of para swimming. Hosting this event in Japan, within a region that has hosted relatively few World Series events to date, carries particular significance. It helps promote greater regional balance in high-level international racing opportunities, supports high-performance pathways while expanding the global base of the sport, and contributes to the sustainable development of para swimming. For many athletes—especially emerging talents—this event will also serve as an important step in preparation for forthcoming major international competitions, including the Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
For local communities in Japan, this competition provides a valuable opportunity to witness first-hand the world’s highest level of performance, the spirit of challenge, and the sportsmanship demonstrated by para swimmers. Japanese para swimming fans are passionate and highly knowledgeable, and they are fully prepared to welcome you with great enthusiasm and warm support.
We are confident that the Para Swimming World Series Fuji-Shizuoka 2026 will deliver outstanding competition and meaningful international exchange, making a significant contribution to the continued growth of para swimming. We sincerely look forward to welcoming many nations and athletes to Shizuoka City in May 2026.
Yours sincerely,

Kunio Nakamori
